I've got a great job now! Contract signed, flexible hours, enthusiastic adult students, pays by the hour, no compulsory 'admin' time I have to be present for... so... thanks!

I have decided to stay and work in Brno until the middle of May next year when the school year ends, mainly because I have been inundated with work offers, and they are hard to turn down when you are being asked to run business and advanced classes.

So I find myself working for 6 different schools and now being choosy over any new work being offered. I have my own business license, so I am not committed contractually to anyone which suits me fine.

I am now teaching at a University in Shandong province. I teach ten classes spoken English and eight phonetics and pronunciation. Each has 45 students. I never wanted so many, but they are all English majors and hungry for the lessons..

Anyway I never thought I could manage and do well with such large classes. The feedback has been extremely positive from every class. I use the warm-ups, the timing, the planning and the vital student contact ideas taught on the TEFL course.

So this e-mail is just to say that amazingly I really like it and so do the students.

The teaching, the TEFL training, has worked . I use some of the positives from the trainers; Alexander's attention to detail and Ian's forward straight-at-them style with outlandish humor. I have already mentioned Brett's exceptional inspirational feedback and support. He made a big difference to me. Sinead too give me some very helpful ideas, though did not teach me.

You already have my detailed feedback on my course. This is just to update that its all going very well. I still stand by my feedback but the positives I mentioned have made a big difference. I now teach with confidence, relaxed, clarity, fun and humor.

I look forward to each class.

Thank you. Best wishes

This course has provided me with a good, no, excellent basis for teaching EFL, as well as a Diploma that means something. The thorough study makes me more confident that I can handle whatever's out there. The Boland staff provides secure back-up and ongoing support.

It has been a tough four and a half weeks, but I have learnt a lot and have enjoyed my time here at Boland!

I gained quite a bit from the training, especially in the phonetics, which I had never studied before and the class planning tips and activities. It will all come in handy in my teaching career!

The course was well-organised, the teachers very knowledgeable and I made many very good friends. Overall, the TEFL course has been a great experience for me.

I have been teaching at Huijia Private School in Changping, an hour north of Beijing, since August 2005. I am not teaching English, but Mathematics, Computer Studies and Science in the GAC program at China Australia College Beijing. GAC is Global Assessment Certificate, a one year program, all taught in English, for EFL students who wish to study at a western university.
Although I am not teaching English, I use many of the skills imparted at Boland, and I have often recommended Boland School Suzhou to people enquiring about TEFL courses. I was a very experienced teacher to begin with, but with little experience of teaching EFL students. I found the TEFL course to be very worthwhile, and I wish I had been aware of some of the class planning and activity strategies while I was teaching in my initial career in Australia.

Although it was challenging, I really enjoyed the course and I learned a lot. I was able to begin working immediately, and have since encountered many situations where it occurs to me that I would be lost for any way to resolve things had I not taken the TEFL training. I was also impressed by the staff's combination of professionalism and friendly approachability. They are more than willing to go out of their way to address specific needs of students who are looking for some extra help in this or that area. Besides the trainers, I think that Jindra in an extremely capable administrator. I've found myself wondering how she manages to keep everything running so smoothly no matter what. She is also very accessible for advice in areas not specifically relating to the course but rather to life in the Czech Republic as well as visa questions. I would recommend the course to anyone who is interested in teaching EFL, especially if their interest is specific to the Czech Republic.
